Rothenburg ob der Tauber. Rothenburg is a town in the district of Ansbach of Mittelfranken (Middle Franconia), the Franconia region of Bavaria, Germany. It is well known for its well-preserved medieval old town, a destination for tourists from around the world. The name “Rothenburg ob der Tauber” means, in German, “Red fortress above the Tauber”. This is so because the town is located on a plateau overlooking the Tauber River.
I stayed a night there and went out to immense myself in the night view of this beautiful and mystical old town. The next morning , I went to explore the town wall and typical cobbled lane in the old town. Stopped by at a cafe for some special local pastry. The local delicacies here is the snowball . Basically is is a rounded bread , soft in the inside and crispy on the outside sprinkled with fine sugary coating (looks like snow).
I went for a stroll in the cold autumn night and the medieval town is quiet but spectacular , brightly lighted and it gives me a sense of history . I imagining the knights that walked the path here or ride on their white mighty horses.

This town would have been so pretty come Christmas , so white and traditional Christmas. I was however there in January , so the celebration mood was more muted and quiet.
